Bouygues UK has recently been selected as preferred development partner for the delivery of the regeneration of Canning Town, where our property development arm – Bouygues Development – is the lead partner in a consortium which includes One Housing Group.
Our vision is to establish a new heart for Canning Town, with a vibrant mixed-use centre which is safe, secure and creates a sense of place. However, we recognise that sustainable regeneration is about more than bricks and mortar – at Bouygues UK we see ourselves as having a key role in the social and economic regeneration of the area, as well as meeting the needs of residents in the wider community.
To do this, it was essential that we established a clear and positive process of consultation with local residents, where we not only listened to their views but encouraged them to be active members of our partnership, responding to their views wherever possible.
In addition to the residents, it was essential that we won the trust and confidence of our clients. In Canning Town we made it a central platform of our bid that a key to successful delivery was to work as a coherent and integrated team with the London Borough of Newham and London Thames Gateway Development Corporation.
