Bouygues Construction is the leading prison constructor in France, delivering 12 prisons (of 15 procured in recent years), providing over 7500 places.

Initial procurement was under a design and build form, and the most recent examples have been awarded as finance, design, construction, operation and maintenance contracts, or public private partnerships (PPPs).

The integrated design and construction team work together to create facilities that offer space and communication. While structures are optimised, emphasis is placed on the combined aesthetic effects of the essential robust materials (fair faced concrete) and light to create design interest.

Prisons are planned so that adjacencies and layout ensure a continuity of the social link required for prisoners to aid their reintegration at the end of their sentences.

Bouygues also has extensive international experience in the design and construction of court facilities (crown courts and magistrates courts), detention centres, and police facilities.

Bouygues UK was the leader of the consortium responsible for the design and construction of the Home Office headquarters (2 Marsham Street, London). Delivered under the private finance initiative, Ecovert FM (a Bouygues Construction subsidiary) continues to provide facilities management services to the building.
