We are committed to enhancing and developing the communities we work in. Using our expertise and our resources, we work to address social issues, raise aspirations, and increase awareness and inclusion.

Championing language study

As part of a global Group, we are highly aware of the importance of foreign language skills in the workplace. Our Business Language Champions Programme offers cross-school language competitions to encourage learning and achievement, along with workshops in schools to show how language skills can broaden the career, business and cultural opportunities available to students. We have delivered the programme for three years, with many schools seeing a significant increase in the number of students opting to study foreign languages.

Women in construction

At Bouygues UK, women make up 32% of our team, compared to a UK industry average of just 13%. To highlight the opportunities available for women within the construction industry, we host girls’ school student Groups in joint initiatives with London Boroughs.

Showcasing the job opportunities available locally, we also highlight areas where women are traditionally under-represented in construction. The students meet several female employees, and visit a live construction site.

Getting young people into construction

Our partnership with the Construction Youth Trust supports their valuable work with young people in local communities. Our fully-equipped Mobile Classroom visits youth groups and neighbourhoods across London, providing construction-related training and careers advice. By providing an introduction to building and work-related skills training, we offer young people the chance to discover the opportunities available to them.
