Committed to reducing waste
As supporters of the UK’s WRAP scheme, which aims to halve the amount of construction industry waste to landfill by 2012, we are proud to have already exceeded the industry target.
World-leading innovation capability
Our dedicated research and development think tank is at the forefront of energy-efficiency innovation, finding new technologies to reduce the environmental impact of our products and processes. Our Green Office in Meudon, France, is a key example – a practical positive-energy building, the Green Office is eight storeys with 23,000m2 of office space that produces more energy than it consumes, by harnessing renewable energy sources. You can find out more about our R&D initiatives here.
Ecosite: recognising exemplary sustainable development
All of our new sites have to obtain the Ecosite label, our Group-wide environmental label. Ecosite recognises those sites that have achieved our ambitious environmental standard, which is founded on stringent regulations and exemplary practices observed throughout the Group.
Projects are only awarded the Ecosite label following a rigorous audit of environmental risks, waste management, hazardous products, reduction of site noise, air quality, quality of the aquatic environment, conservation of biodiversity, reduction of energy consumption, cleanliness and tidiness, communications and handling of emergency situations.
Improving site energy efficiency
Green Site Office assesses the environmental efficiency of our sites offices through certification from silver to platinum. All our cabins are double-glazed, insulated and contain equipment such as PIR-activated lighting and push button taps to reduce electricity and water use. Green Site Office is part of the implementation of Green Act, our Group environmental charter.
Healthier employees, safer sites
We work hard to ensure our site environments are safe and our employees are healthy. We have an industry-leading approach to safety, and we take the health of our team just as seriously.
