Our positive, proactive company ethos results in a workplace culture that is energised and empowered. We nurture our teams to ensure their wellbeing and to encourage them to fulfil their potential. The result is an environment in which our talented team members are proud to excel.

Developing potential

Our talented workforce is fundamental to our success, so we make sure our team members have the means to reach their potential. Via our management development programme, Training Pathways, our employees receive tailored training programmes to support their individual career paths, across junior, middle and senior management.

Encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle

Our Sports and Social Committee encourages cohesion among staff and promotes a healthy work/life balance. Over the past year, our employees have taken part in more than 25 cultural and sporting events – from rugby and tennis, to theatre and wine-tasting events. We provide a wide range of regular activities, including pilates, football, climbing and photography, and negotiate discounts on gym memberships and cinema tickets. A dedicated Sports and Social website makes it easy for our team members to get involved in upcoming events.

Shaping Futures

Our employee volunteering scheme, Shaping Futures, offers the chance to get involved in valuable school and charity initiatives. Every employee is entitled to a full day’s pay to support one of the many volunteering opportunities we have developed in conjunction with a number of organisations. In this way, Shaping Futures develops students’ employability skills and career aspirations, and also supports the personal development and aspirations of our volunteers. In the scheme’s first year, more than 650 hours were volunteered.

Emergency Architects

We work in partnership with Emergency Architects, a NGO specialising in humanitarian aid projects in disaster zones, such as Haiti. Following the earthquake that hit Haiti in 2010, members of our global teams volunteered for three-month missions to help with reconstruction and seismic retrofitting. An integral part of the mission in Haiti is to share construction expertise with the local communities. Local masons work with our volunteer engineers, who provide seminars and give technical assistance on anti-seismic and anti-cyclonic construction techniques.
