Tustin Estate Community Event 2025: Bringing Residents Together in Southwark
The Tustin Estate regeneration project continues to strengthen community bonds, with Bouygues UK’s latest summer event attracting over 200 local residents and stakeholders to Old Kent Road on September 6th, 2025.
Successful Community Engagement at Tustin Regeneration Site
The Tustin Site Team organised their most successful community event to date, welcoming 223 residents and local stakeholders to the Tustin Regeneration site on Old Kent Road. This annual summer gathering demonstrates Bouygues UK’s commitment to meaningful community engagement.

What Made This Tustin Estate Event Special
The community event offered something for every age group, featuring:
- Family Entertainment: bouncy castles and mini carousel for children
- Cultural Food: churros stall and authentic Brazilian BBQ
- Active Participation: olympic-style games and sports activities
- Creative Activities: face painting and craft stations
- Community Building: competitions with prizes and free raffle
Osama Shoush, Housing Strategic Lead at London Borough of Southwark, praised the event’s success: “Out of all our events, this is the best one yet – great turnout and everyone is really enjoying themselves.“

Community-Led Planning Approach
Senior Social Value Adviser Suzi Mattos spearheaded the event planning over several months, collaborating with key stakeholders including Pulse, London Borough Southwark, the Tenants Community Association, and the wider Tustin development team.
“Seeing all ages participate shows how events like this bring the community together,” said Mattos. “We had stakeholders attend who’ve never come to our meetings before. Days like this remind me why I enjoy this work.”
The cross-departmental support from Bouygues UK teams – including volunteers from L&D, Commercial, Building Legacy, and Production departments – demonstrates the company’s organisation-wide commitment to community development.

Future Community Events at Tustin Estate
Head of Social Value Jeff Joseph acknowledged that the event’s success has raised community expectations for future activities. Planning is already underway for similar events moving forwards.
Bouygues UK’s resident-focused approach continues the engagement strategy that has characterised the Tustin Estate project since its community ballot mandate and ongoing stakeholder consultation programme.

The Tustin Estate development includes:
- 250 replacement council homes and shared equity properties
- 220 additional council homes including dedicated keyworker homes
- 220 homes for sale to support mixed-income communities
- Central park for community recreation
- Refurbishment of existing council homes

Community Engagement Beyond Events
The Tustin Estate summer event exemplifies Bouygues UK’s broader commitment to community engagement throughout the development process. This approach ensures residents remain informed and involved in decisions affecting their neighbourhood, from initial design concepts through to construction strategy and social value initiatives.
Regular community events like this September gathering provide essential opportunities for residents to connect with development teams, voice concerns, and celebrate milestones in their estate’s transformation.
The Tustin Estate regeneration project represents a significant investment in South London’s future, combining quality housing delivery with meaningful community engagement and environmental sustainability.
