Our vision

Our vision is to create inspiring places to learn. Bouygues UK has been building schools for the Department for Education and other clients in the sector for decades now.

Public facilities, like schools, play a vital role in the fabric of our local communities, and it is crucial that they seamlessly integrate with and benefit the life of those living in the area. Our commitment to this integration begins long before the construction phases start.

We understand that engaging with clients, schools, and local stakeholders during the preconstruction phase is fundamental to the success of our projects, ensuring they meet and exceed expectations.

Frederick Bremer School

Our vision extends beyond constructing buildings; we aim to create educational environments that elevate the outcomes for both students and teaching staff.

Recognising the profound impact of surroundings on physical and mental health and well-being, we strive to create educational spaces that prioritise these aspects.

We collaborate closely with our clients, design teams, and supply chain partners to deliver structures of the utmost quality that meet the needs of staff and students alike.

Jo Richardson Community School

We know that for local communities, the quality and services of their neighbourhood schools are crucial points of interest.

Our approach ensures that the specific needs of the school align with the desires of the community, all while taking into account the diverse functions that a school may serve within the community.

We are committed to crafting schools that not only stand as architectural achievements but also serve as vibrant hubs within their urban context.

Partnership approach

Bouygues UK has secured a place on the DfE Construction Framework 21 and is delivering schools on the School Rebuilding Programme and the Free Schools Programme, as well as further education colleges as part of the Further Education Infrastructure Fund. Bouygues UK has a long-standing history of delivering projects through previous iterations of the framework, including the BSF and PSBP programmes.

In addition to our partnership with the DfE, we also build schools through other frameworks including SWWRCF and SEWSCAP in Wales, delivering schools for the Welsh Government as part of the 21st century schools investment programme, as well as through the Southern Construction Framework and Crown Commercial Services.

Our central education team has established strong relationships with architects, engineers and specialist consultants that work in the education sector who share our goals of enhancing the educational outcome through high-quality schemes.

At Bouygues UK, our construction methods have evolved as technology has advanced. By using a kit-of-parts approach and with off-site construction being used where it is most relevant, particularly for classrooms, we can combine factory prefabrication with traditional construction methods ensuring our buildings set a better example for the sector.

To be able to achieve this build during a pandemic has been phenomenal. I remember planting a tree at the start of the project and wondering how on earth were they going to do it, but actually Bouygues UK have delivered this amazing school on time and on budget. And I want to let the young people of [Pencoedtre High School] know that they are worth every penny to us.

As requirements change, we see these methods harnessing the use of more wood, with concrete usage limited only to where strictly necessary for aspects like foundations, infrastructure, and areas where the architectural concept and the technical and scheduling requirements justify its use.

The success of this project has been entirely down to excellent communication and flexibility on your part. Bouygues UK and our school working seamlessly together has meant that the work has been completed within the time frame. The standard of workmanship has been very high, all employees working respectfully and cleanliness of the areas has been exemplary.
