Bouygues UK Breaks Ground on Transformative Rosedale College

11/03/2026

We have celebrated the official groundbreaking at Rosedale College, marking the start of a transformative project set to futureproof the college as a leading institution for technology and applied learning. Distinguished guests, including the Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor Philip Corthorne, representatives from the Department for Education (DfE), trustees of Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust and local stakeholders, attended the event, highlighting the significance of this major investment in education infrastructure.

Delivered in partnership with the Department for Education (DfE), the project represents a significant step forward in sustainable campus design. The masterplan involves the demolition of outdated 1960s structures to make way for state-of-the-art teaching facilities and a dedicated performing arts block. This modern infrastructure is designed to be net zero carbon in operation, aligning with the UK’s wider climate targets and Bouygues UK’s own commitment to low-carbon construction.

We are excited to celebrate this groundbreaking at Rosedale College, as it will set a benchmark for sustainable education facilities and demonstrate how innovative construction can support future-ready learning. By combining high-tech STEM facilities with a net zero operational blueprint, we are creating a campus that reflects the innovation happening within its walls.

Beyond the new builds, the project includes a comprehensive refurbishment of the existing STEM block and extensive upgrades to the college’s physical education and social infrastructure. By removing temporary classrooms and reinstating sports field provision, alongside the installation of new Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGAs) and social canopies, the development will create a holistic, future-proofed environment for students.

This day has been in the making for over 2 years, carefully and meticulously dedicated to the planning that needed to go into it, to make sure that the project works for the school. It wasn’t just about replacing outdated buildings, but about building something that reflects our vision and values, that can stand proudly in the heart of the community. We were able to capture our ethos of who we were, who we are, and what it was we wanted to achieve, and Bouygues UK were able to embrace that and develop it into the buildings that we’re all going to be proud of.

The College is delighted to announce that work is now underway on our long‑awaited campus redevelopment, which includes the construction of two new buildings and a major refurbishment of our STEM block. This investment represents a significant milestone in our commitment to providing an exceptional learning environment for our students. While outstanding teaching remains at the heart of everything we do, creating modern, purpose‑built spaces will further enhance the educational experience and open new opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and ambition across the College community. This project marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our staff and students alike.

Stewart Duguid, Chair of the Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust

This ground breaking event marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for Rosedale College, with completion scheduled for 2028. The project underpins the collaborative efforts of Bouygues UK, the DfE and the college to create a future-ready, sustainable and inspiring learning environment.
