From Bouygues Morocco to the UK, Chaimaa’s career has been shaped by international opportunities and a passion for seeing projects transform from an empty site into places where people will live, learn and work. Having recently moved from Production into Preconstruction, she brings experience across different project environments and values the diverse, collaborative culture that has helped the UK become home.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job at Bouygues UK?
I recently moved from Production into Preconstruction, so I can best answer this from a Production perspective. For me, the most rewarding part is seeing the series of milestones and small achievements throughout the construction process: the first trade on site, the first benchmark, the first completed floor and, ultimately, the handover. Walking through a completed building and remembering when the concrete team was preparing the first pour, or when the space was nothing more than an empty slab with concrete walls and columns, gives you a real sense of achievement. Seeing that transformation happen over time is incredibly fulfilling, and it’s a feeling that’s hard to match.
What does “Building for life” mean to you?
To me, Building for Life means creating places where people will truly live their lives, whether that’s their home, their school or their workplace. The projects we deliver eventually become part of someone’s everyday life and memories, which gives our work a much deeper meaning and responsibility.
How has Bouygues UK supported your development?
I initially joined Bouygues Morocco after graduating and, after five years, I was ready for a new challenge. Bouygues supported my development through its mobility programme, giving me opportunities to work in several locations around the world. I chose the UK, which has since become home, and the experience has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally.
How would you describe the culture to someone new joining?
I would describe the culture as highly diverse, collaborative and welcoming. People come from many different backgrounds and experiences, which creates an environment where you can learn a lot from others while still feeling supported and included.
