DELPHINE WAGENFIELD
Delphine’s international career has taken her from France to Singapore and now the UK, giving her a broad perspective on engineering, collaboration and building performance. Starting out as an energy modeller, she has progressed into mechanical engineering and worked across residential, healthcare, laboratory and mixed-use projects. She values Bouygues UK’s diverse culture and the opportunity to share knowledge across the wider Bouygues Construction Group.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job at Bouygues UK?
The most rewarding aspect of my role is balancing engineering, cost and coordination to deliver practical and affordable solutions. Working closely with designers and colleagues across technical departments allows me to contribute to the bigger picture and help optimise the project as a whole.

What does “Building for life” mean to you?
To me, Building for Life means designing and delivering buildings that have a positive and lasting impact on people’s everyday lives. Whether it’s a highly technical hospital or a comfortable residential development, the goal is to create environments that are efficient, sustainable and improve the wellbeing of the people who use them.
How has Bouygues UK supported your development?
Bouygues UK has supported my development by giving me a high level of trust and responsibility throughout my career. I started my career in France and had the opportunity to work in Singapore before coming to the UK, allowing me to develop both technically and culturally while adapting to different project environments and ways of working. Over the years, I’ve worked on increasingly complex projects, from residential developments to highly technical hospitals, laboratories and large mixed-use schemes with ambitious sustainability targets. Starting my career as an energy modeller before moving into mechanical engineering has also given me a broader understanding of building performance.
How would you describe the culture to someone new joining?
The culture is very diverse and multicultural, which creates a collaborative environment. As part of the wider Bouygues Construction Group, having teams across the world also means we can share experiences, innovation and lessons learned from similar project challenges. This helps everyone continuously improve while creating a strong sense of connection rather than working in silos.
