Keertan began his career through the Bouygues UK Graduate Scheme and has since gained experience across residential and healthcare projects. He values the opportunity to work across different sectors, develop his skills and pursue professional chartership. What’s the most rewarding part of your job at Bouygues UK?
Seeing tangible results at the end of a project and having a sense of accomplishment knowing that the effort you put in has transformed into something real, useful and lasting.
What does “Building for life” mean to you?
Building for Life means creating environments that improve the overall quality of life for individuals, families and future generations.
How has Bouygues UK supported your development?
I joined the Bouygues Graduate Scheme, where we received structured training to develop our soft skills and gain a better understanding of the construction industry. Due to the diverse sectors we operate in, I’ve also had the opportunity to work on both residential and healthcare projects, which has expanded my industry experience and supported my career development goals. The business has also supported and encouraged me to pursue chartership, which is something I’m currently working towards.
How would you describe the culture to someone new joining?
I’d describe it as highly family-oriented, particularly at project level. There is a real sense of community and collaboration between colleagues and departments. One thing that has particularly stood out to me is that being a junior member of a team doesn’t mean your voice isn’t heard. If you have an idea or potential solution, senior management are open to hearing your thoughts, providing feedback and, where appropriate, implementing your ideas.
