Bouygues UK is delivering the new Diagnostic Treatment and Education Centre (DTEC) at West Middlesex University Hospital, a transformative £80 million healthcare project.

The five-storey, all-electric building will provide vital diagnostic and treatment services for cancer care, renal treatment, and imaging. Once complete, the DTEC will benefit residents across Hounslow, Richmond, and Ealing areas, helping to reduce waiting times and improve patient outcomes.

Increased Clinical Capacity

The project will significantly expand local healthcare services:

  • Chemotherapy chairs increased from 10 to 18, enabling approximately 3,000 additional treatments over 10 years
  • Dialysis chairs increased from 12 to 24, supporting 72 more outpatients per week
  • Elective diagnostic capacity increased by 43%, translating to around 67,000 additional imaging scans over the first decade

These improvements will reduce waiting times, improve early diagnosis, and support better patient outcomes across multiple services.

SUSTAINABILITY AND INNOVATION approach

The site has been recognised for its sustainability achievements, receiving full marks from the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) including two additional innovation points. Highlights include:

  • Reusable and recyclable hoardings and low-carbon concrete
  • Use of recycled and reused materials
  • Monthly carbon reduction meetings led by a dedicated carbon champion
  • HP SitePrint Robot delivering greater efficiency, improved quality control, and enhanced coordination on site
