Supporting greener, healthier schools
We are proud to support Earthwatch Europe’s Green Earth Schools programme through funding from the Bouygues Construction Foundation, helping create more opportunities for young people to learn, play and connect with the natural world.
Earthwatch Europe works with schools in urban areas where access to nature can be more limited, helping them transform their grounds into greener, nature-rich spaces for outdoor learning and play.
Thanks to the generous support of the Bouygues Construction Foundation, children in London will have the opportunity to learn and thrive in greener, healthier school environments. Through Green Earth Schools, we’re not only creating more biodiverse and climate-resilient spaces but also helping young people connect with nature and understand the positive impact they can have on their environment.”

One in three UK households do not have adequate access to greenspace close to where they live, while fewer than one in 10 children regularly play in wild places. Green Earth Schools aims to make it easier for children to experience the natural world as part of their everyday school life.
Students and teachers will work with Earthwatch Europe to design features that suit their school grounds and community. These could include hedgerows, living walls, edible gardens, ponds or a Tiny Forest. Pupils will also take part in practical activities focused on biodiversity, sustainability and nature-based solutions.
Teachers will receive training and curriculum-linked resources to help them take lessons outdoors and make use of the new features throughout the school year. This will support STEM learning while giving pupils the chance to explore environmental issues through practical activities.

We are excited to be part of this and will continue to follow the programme’s progress and its impact on participating schools and pupils.
